Marya, a Certified Financial Planner and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, has over a decade of financial planning experience. Marya’s experience uniquely positions her to assist couples navigating the economic intricacies which often arise when dissolving a marriage, including division of financial assets and property. She compassionately educates her clients to and leads them through a disciplined process focused on an amicable and healthy future. Serving in the role as a neutral third party, Marya empowers her clients to craft the best solution for their family’s situation and align their economic resources to meet their financial and family objectives.

Marya graduated from Dominican University in 2004. She completed her Certified Financial Planner coursework at Northwestern University and obtained the CFP® designation in 2013. Marya then completed the requirements and became a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst in 2015. Marya is a member of the Institute of Divorce Financial Analysts, The Association of Divorce Financial Planners, The Association of Professional Family Mediators, The Indiana Association of Mediators, and is approved as a mediator by the Indiana Supreme Court.

Marya Carey Pleasant joined Heartland Family Mediators, LLC in 2017 serving the needs of divorcing families in Northwest Indiana. Marya’s guiding principle is that while divorce may end a marriage, it does not end a family. She is committed to helping families move forward in ways that allow peace to guide the relationship in the aftermath of divorce. Mediation is a practical option that allows couples a path to resolving their issues without the cost of drawn out litigation.
